Marty RichardsCourtesy Shuttle Driver/Shop Maintenance/Wash Bay
Born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Comox, Marty and his family lived on Hornby Island coming to Courtenay in 1960, and moving to Victoria a year later. Growing up in what was then a small city, Marty relished the slower pace and recreational opportunities that were abundant at that time.
Working in transportation and logistics a company transfer in 1987 took him to Toronto and Ottawa for a six year period. As a transport driver he would drive up to 500 km a day in all manner of weather, good and bad. Marty has seen just about any kind of road conditions that one could imagine.
Returning to the Comox Valley in 1993 he worked in the floor coverings and interior design industry for over 10 years. Looking for a change of pace from sales Marty volunteered as a driver for the Wheels For Wellness Society shuttling passengers up and down Vancouver Island and also manned the phones at the Crossroads Crisis Center here until that service was centralized elsewhere on the island.
With his driving experience and ability to clean just about anything, Marty became the shop assistant, shuttle driver and vehicle detailer for a local body shop and then a local car dealership after that. These qualifications make him a great asset as the Lot Assistant here at Andy's Auto Center.
Marty's love of the great outdoors keeps him busy camping, kayaking, fishing and exploring the back roads and many lakes in our region. He always has his cameras along and has captured many wildlife and scenic vistas bringing him full circle, relishing the slower pace and numerous recreational opportunities here on Vancouver Island. Marty enjoys travel and revels in the profound differences that present themselves in other parts of the world.
Always willing to share a story and a joke or two, Marty gets you where you need to be when necessary and gives your vehicle some TLC for when you return to retrieve it after it's service is complete.
